‘I Expect The Unexpected’ …Travel Along, Day 27

23February

‘I Expect The Unexpected’

To assume – is as they say, to make an ‘Ass’ out of ‘u’ and ‘me’.

In the past, I assumed many times that certain things would take place.

Even items that were explicitly documented and legally taken care of, for which there should be no doubt, no loopholes.

The unexpected happened.

Beyond shocking.

There was nothing I could do.

I protested far too long a time how life ‘should’ have been.

Stuck in the ‘should’.

Yes, it ‘should’ have been that way.

Stuck in the ‘should’.

That was the plan.

Protestation and feeling awful won’t change anything.

Stuck in the ‘should.

Assuming life will be a certain way is not always reality.

The unexpected most always happens.

There I was.

I had ‘should’ all over me.  Crap!

Stuck in the ‘should’.

No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t get the ‘should’ off.

Stuck in the ‘should’.

The ‘should’ was stinky, felt terrible.

Stuck in the ‘should’.

The ‘should’ was gross.

Stuck in the ‘should’.

I learned to pivot and step out of the ‘should’.

I put all the ‘should’ back in the ‘should’ pile and leave it where it belongs.

I learned radical acceptance, to let go of resistance, to live in the now, to let go of the past.

I learned to pick myself up, dust myself off, no more pile of ‘should’ holding me down, smelling up my life, and make the best of life, with what is.

I continue to navigate whatever situations come up, so I thrive.

Now I expect the unexpected.
